Copthorne Man running the London Marathon and donating all sponsorship money to the Pavilion Fund ….. 17th April 2011.
Paul Budgen is running in this year’s London Marathon and is willing to be sponsored exclusively for the new Copthorne Sports and Community Pavilion which is being built this year.
You can be involved by gaining as much Sponsorship as possible – collecting the monies and sending by cheque made out to ‘Copthorne Sports Club’ and posting the Treasurer (Beverley Brown), Holly House, Copthorne Bank, Copthorne, West Sussex RH10.

- First ran London Marathon in 1994 with a friend in 3 hours 52 minutes.
- Ran again in 1998 in around 4:12.
- Gave up sport and exercise (!) until 2005, ran London again in 2006 to 4:26 to “get round” and raised £1500.00 for Help The Hospices.
- Ran Edinburgh in 2007 to try and get under 4.00 but ended up just missing it with a 4:04.
- Ran Edinburgh again in 2008 but ended up with a 4:26.
- 300 miles before Marathon on 17th April.
- Ran the Bramley 20 mile race on 20th February this year in 2:48.
- Am running the Cranleigh 21 mile race on 20th March.
- Am training on treadmill at Nuffield Health Club and several different circuits involving the Worth Way.
- Getting under 4:00 is my goal but a lifetime best isn’t out of the question the way my training is going this year.
- Also enjoy swimming, mountain biking dinghy sailing.

Training going well, ran a 21mile race on Sunday in 2 hours 53 minutes, only four weeks to go now……
